Arigho Larmour Wheeler Architects (ALWA) was established in 2016 by Mark Arigho, Jane Larmour and Patrick Wheeler. The practice is is a registered RIAI and RIBA/RSUA Chartered practice with studios in Belfast and Dublin. We are committed to finding creative yet pragmatic design solutions that add beauty and value. We have experience of a wide range of project types at a range of scales including new one-off private houses, sensitive renovations of protected buildings, and innovative extensions to family homes alongside projects for public and commercial clients.
We take pride in designing and delivering well-crafted buildings with a strong connection to their context. Fundamental to our practice is the belief that good architecture and design can enrich people’s lives.
Our approach to design, in any context, is a reaction to the surroundings, history, and landscape. We set out to make buildings which are useful and beautiful backdrops against, and with which people's lives can play out, whether at work, rest or play. We enjoy the challenge of finding appropriate responses to each project we take on, working to complement existing conditions, paying close attention to budget, sustainability and the precise project context.
